Chapter one teaser…
FIRST TIME GIFT
“Miss? Miss? Can you come here?” called a little voice beyond the partially opened door.
Sunny refused to hear it though. She kept her eyes on the wax and pushed the mop, her hands now feeling extremely hot and uncomfortable. Sunny tried to ignore her hands, but could not.
“Please. Miss? Can you come in here for just a second?” the little girl asked. Sunny looked up and could not avoid her penetrating stare. She smiled, pulled the dead ear buds from her ears, and carefully set the mop against the wall. She gingerly stepped over the caution wet floor rope.
“Um, hon, do you need a nurse?” Sunny asked, hoping the girl would say yes.
“No, please, come in. I want to talk to you.”
Sunny reluctantly stepped into the room. The dim lighting subdued the atmosphere; the walls had the same murals of colorful smiley-faced flowers, to help give the appearance of hope. It felt like a hospital room nonetheless. The lit lamp near the bed and subdued lighting above the bed headboard did not shed enough bright light. The girl looked so tiny and frail. Her eyes were sunken into her head, dark circles underneath. While her honey brown hair grew out thinly, as if she had been through the rigors of radiation or chemotherapy. Her little body looked thin and frail and her lips were a grayish flesh color. The room smelled of death.
Sunny felt a surge of energy in her body, though she wanted to turn and bolt. She thought briefly that she could do just that, turn, run, and never return. She heard a voice in her head say a firm, “no.” Sunny stared at the sick little girl; her eyes darted to the chart at the end of her bed, the date of birth, and the fact that the 12-year-old girl only looked eight.
“Please,” the girl continued to plea, “The angel said you would pray for me to be well.” Her eyes were almost unfocused, lackluster. Her chapped lips held none of the pinkness you normally see in children. Sunny’s heart began beating hard with indignity.
“You can ask God to heal you, you don’t need me to pray,” Sunny said, wanting to back out of the room. The tremors in her chest and gut were surely noticeable.
The little girl tried to sit up taller. “But I did,” she said softly. “I asked God to heal me so I would live, and He sent me you. The angel told me so.”
Sunny’s mouth dropped open and her breathing picked up. People did not need to go through others to get to God. She always felt that God could provide directly. Now she realized the opposite. He does provide, but not always through the means we think. In addition, He does use others to deliver.
Her hands continued to quake and heat up. She felt energy pouring in from the top of her head, through her body and out her hands. She shut her eyes for one split second and said a silent prayer to God. “God, if this is You, You have to take over.”
The next moment she went to the little girl, tears in her eyes, placed her hands one on top of her head and the other on her left shoulder, and opened her mouth to hear words of prayer flowing…
About the Author:
L.A. Ramsey loves to spin stories, as she has all her life. Her earliest memories are of playing by herself, playing out stories she made up in her mind at the tender young age of 3. As she grew older her dream was to become an author, specifically a novelist. 20 years ago she took the Famous Writer’s Course in fiction writing, then wrote her first novel. After that life happened, she started a family, pursued other avenues for her career (as a website designer and coach), then she decided her passion still lies in being a novelist. 20 years after writing her first novel she wrote several more and has decided to share them with the rest of the world. She has written a dozen non-fiction books under “Lori Ramsey” and finally began to publish the novels starting with the first published novel – Sunny Beam.

Cadence LaPorte is about to be hanged.
For weeks, U.S. Marshal, Jonah Kincaid, has been hot on her trail for the murder of his brother. His pursuit ends in a dusty Texas town at the scene of a lynching – namely, Cadence’s. Since revenge is at the top of his list, he saves her from death-by-hanging – for now.
Except Jonah thinks he’s been tracking a young boy.
And Cadence has this itsy-bitsy little problem: The women in her family are shape-shifting panthers, and once a year they’re compelled to mate with any male who happens to be in the vicinity – and become bound to him for life.
Jonah Kincaid is the last man on earth Cadence would wish to bind herself to. If she doesn’t find a way to escape him soon, she’ll be mauling the infuriating (handsome) U.S. Marshal – but as a woman, not as the panther.
Despite the obstacles thrown in their path, can two imperfect people find perfect true love?

CAILIN MAC DOUGAL has lived a dangerous life being the adopted daughter of vampire Broderick “Rick” MacDougal, so she had no choice but to learn to fight in order to protect herself. However, such behavior is hardly desirable in a dutiful wife who’s supposed to embroider and run a household. This aggressive side of her behavior should be easy enough to hide from her betrothed…shouldn’t it?
After being away at fencing school for seven years, JAMES KNIGHTLY has returned as a master swordsman, ready to captain his own ship and finally wed his childhood sweetheart, Cailin MacDougal. What he finds waiting for him is a dagger-toting hellion for a bride, an immortal father-in-law, and an enemy bent on extracting revenge by threatening the family James holds most dear-the MacDougals.
BRODERICK MAC DOUGAL is lured away from his family with the promise of-at last-learning a way to protect those he loves from his clan enemy, Angus Campbell. Broderick knows he’s headed for a trap, but the bait is too tempting to resist…and he unravels the beginning of a prophecy that will lead to redemption for all vampires. The cost of such redemption, though, may be the very soul of the woman he would die for…his wife, Davina.
